Spray quenchents are a common choice in induction heat treating and much faster than traditional immersion quenchants. But when it comes to measuring and characterizing these spray quenchants, standard probes often cannot keep up.
In Fluxtrol’s latest study, Limitations of Standard Probes for the Measurement of Spray Quenching, Robert C. Goldstein and D. Scott MacKenzie found:
✔️ Standard quench probes are too slow for fast water spray quenchants.
✔️ Small diameter silver probes show potential but face design challenges.
✔️ Medium diameter silver tube probes offer the best balance of accuracy and practicality.
